Craving eggs or other foods throughout pregnancy is normal, and yes, it varies from woman to woman.
Pregnant ladies desire two types of foods healthy foods like craving milk and unhealthy foods like spicy foods. So, here you have to focus more, and is that really any relation between craving eggs and genders like boy or girl?
I know it’s a common question for all pregnant women. That’s perfectly fine. You’re a mother, and you’re the only one who cares because they are always with you.
I won’t be disappointed with the answer because I have a son. During my gestation week, I began a fun activity of collecting data about cravings and figuring out what wishes women have for what children?
As we all know, there is no scientific evidence on any correlation between craving eggs and gender.
After collecting data, I found most women have a baby boy who craved eggs during their pregnancy. The collecting result we are going to show you in the next section. So stay with us if you are excited?
This article will discuss the findings from my fun activities, whether egg craving is healthy during pregnancy, how many eggs are needed per week, and some other pertinent questions that most pregnant women have.
Craving eggs during pregnancy, boy or girl?
The desire for eggs while pregnant varies from girl to girl. However, researchers believe that craving specific foods during gestation indicates a nutritional deficiency, hormonal changes, smell, and taste.
As I mentioned, during pregnancy week, I started a project about cravings and pregnancy and collected data from 51 women.
In that list, I found 47 women are love to eat eggs especially hard-boiled eggs. It’s common for all.
Despite that, 23 women claimed they had craved eggs during the first trimester, and 5 of them told me they even don’t like eggs.
However, when I contacted them, I discovered that 14 have a baby boy and 9 have a baby girl. The most interesting is one who doesn’t like eggs but craved them during pregnancy and gave birth to twins baby boys.
In that ratio, I guest guess there was a probability you might be going to birth a baby boy. However, is not sufficient data to assume anything. It’s just a fun fact.

Is Craving Eggs When Pregnant is Good?
You can satisfy your craving with eggs because they are safe to eat during pregnancy and are one of the essential foods to include for a healthy pregnancy.
However, the eggs content most vital minerals and vitamins such as-
- Folate: 5% of the RDA
- Selenium: 22% of the RDA
- Vitamin B12: 9% of the RDA
- Vitamin B5: 7% of the RDA
- Vitamin A: 6% of the RDA
- Vitamin B2: 15% of the RDA
- Phosphorus: 9% of the RDA
However, avoid eating raw or undercooked eggs.
Benefits of Eating Eggs During Pregnancy
Eggs contain 13 vital nutrients, and all have unique benefits in our bodies.
- Eggs are high in protein that is required for a baby’s growth and development.
- Choline is an essential mineral required for proper brain development in infants, and it is also found in eggs.
- Vitamin B12 is found in eggs. Suppose you don’t have enough Vitamin B12 in your system. In that case, your baby is more likely to suffer from a significant birth abnormality known as a neural tube defect.
- Eggs also contain Vitamin A, which is essential during pregnancy. It aids in the development of baby organs such as the kidneys and lungs.
- Vitamin D boosts the baby’s immune system, strengthens bones, and reduces complications during birth.
- Eggs also help regulate cholesterol, but if you are high in cholesterol, try to avoid the yolk portion of the eggs.
There are so many advantages to consuming eggs during pregnancy. So if you ever craved eggs while pregnant, always be satisfied to eat but never overeat.
Side Effects of Eating Eggs During Pregnancy
There were no side effects if you ate boiled or cooked eggs regularly, but there was a risk of eating undercooked eggs.
Salmonella poisoning can occur if you ate raw eggs or undercooked eggs. It’s a disease-causing bacteria like diarrhea, vomiting, fever, headache, and many more.
Some studies found that miscarriage may happen because of Salmonella bacteria.
Craving boiled eggs during pregnancy, boy or girl
As I mentioned, there is no scientific data, and it’s varied. According to our fun activities project, there was a chance of getting the boy.
However, boiled eggs or hard-boiled eggs are safe during pregnancy. But always take precautions like-
- Must boil the eggs. (Average time at least 12 mins)
- Don’t leave hard-boiled eggs for more than two hours.
- If you store your boiled eggs in the refrigerator, then reheat them before eating.
Pregnancy is a crucial time; always be careful before eating anything and take precautions.
How Many Eggs are Suitable During Pregnancy and Satisfied Cravings?
According to a study, one to two boiled is best during pregnancy because it’s high in nutrients.
Before satisfied your egg craving, remember it is also high in cholesterol (185 mg), and our body daily needs 300 mg/day.
If you are high in cholesterol, then consult your health care staff and maintain your diet.
What happens if you ignore pregnancy cravings
Craving something does not mean you have any problems and deficiencies. If you satisfied your cravings with healthy foods that are fine, try to avoid sugary foods. (added sugar, not natural sugar)
Cravings are not a severe issue; if you ignore them, there were no side effects. Sometimes excessive cravings are also the reason for weight gain.
I believe there was no craving if you satisfied your mind with something, and don’t worry, desires are typical for all of us.
Wrap upon craving eggs in pregnancy gender
Craving eggs are good, and satisfying the craving with one or two eggs per day is also good if you don’t have high cholesterol.
When it comes to cravings and gender, there is no relationship, but we have gathered some information from various mothers.
After averaging the data, we discovered that women who crave eggs while pregnant are more likely to have a boy.
However, this does not imply that if you craved eggs, you must have a baby boy or satisfy your craving while thinking the same. It was just a fun activity with more chances than others.
Addition. If you take eggs throughout your pregnancy with proper limits, I guarantee you will have a healthy baby.
